Dear Parents,
Pre-School Transition
Much has been done over the last few weeks to promote our Pre-School Transition program. Special thanks go to our School Council Members for their help distributing and displaying our promotional material within the community.
Good Vision
Are you child’s eyes frequently red, screwed up while watching television or sensitive to the light? Or does you child tilt his/her head when looking at things or sit very close to the television? These are just a few of many signs that you child may have a vision problem. We have recently received information from the Optometrists Association that will help you better understand your child’s vision. Contact your class teacher or pick up leaflets from the office.
Instrumental Music Lessons
It has come to my attention that some of the students, who participate in instrumental music lessons, are not bringing their music books to school in preparation for their lesson. It is important that these books are at school on the day of lessons so valuable time is not wasted.
Student Leadership Display
The student leadership display in the office features Debbie rom 5/6W. Debbie has created an interesting display to show us her many talents. Well done Debbie!
Book Week
The whole school will be celebrating Book Week on Tuesday August 19 (yes, right in the middle of Science Week!) by enjoying a full day program planned around the books which have been shortlist for the children’s book of the year awards. The day will include exciting visual arts and literacy activities and a book character parade. The children are encouraged to dress as a book character on the day, so look through your books at home or the library and be creative. On the day we will need material, wool or fur scraps if you have some to spare please send them on to the Library. Also, if you have plaster moulds of sea themes, shell, starfish etc and you are happy to lend them to us next week we could begin preparing for our activities. Thank you to Sue Bowden for organising this special event.
OOSH Fees
The Out Of School Hours program (OOSH) does a wonderful job assisting families each day to ensure children have a friendly, stimulating and safe place to be during parents’ working hours. Although the program is supported by the Government, fees paid by parents form an essential part of program funding. Next week reminder notices will be sent home for outstanding fees. If you have overlooked payment of fees please reconcile this with Koren at your earliest convenience.
Better Services Better Outcomes
In 2001 the Department of Education and Training conducted a review of services for students with special educational needs. As a result there have been changes made to funding, curriculum, professional development, accountability and program delivery for students on the Disabilities and Impairments Program. Further information is available for parents at the school office in the Better Services Better Outcomes booklet.

For demonstrating the values of participation and happiness and working hard towards her goal over the last week.
Regards,
Term 3 has begun and things are happening at OOSH. We’ve been busy over the past three weeks making Souvlakis in cooking and taking photos for our new photo board. Some other new things include our birthday board and art wall. Come in and see them!
Unfortunately, dance will not be running this term, but will run in term 4 so keep an eye out for notices. Cooking is on every Wednesday and is lots of fun –not to mention yummy!
Reminder notices are being sent to parents with overdue payments. Please feel free to come and see me in the OOSH office if you have any queries, or call me on 9561 7114.
Koren
Paul’s milk will contribute 10c to our school for every mild cap we collect that is printed with Paul’s Collect-A-Cap. If you are able to help with this drive, please bring the washed caps to the office.
